Process and arrangement for decreasing pollutants in gases. Gaseous and dusty pollutants are treated with a liquid mist, the droplets of which have a mean diameter of 0.0001 to about 0.05 mm. The droplets having the bound pollutants are, in the course of an evaporation process, converted into a solid residue which is disposed of in a method known per se. The droplets can also be electrically charged, so that with the assistance of electrical and/or magnetic fields in corresponding filters, the mist droplets themselves or the particles resulting from drying can be separated from the gas stream.
