Wires (14) are inserted into slotted plate terminal (not shown) of miniature connectors (10) at wire insertion stations (18, 20, 22). In order to avoid the overcrowding of wire insertion tooling (44) at the insertion stations (18, 20, 22), each connector (10) is advanced sequentially through the stations (18, 20, 22) at each of which only some of the terminals thereof are wired, the terminals wired at each station (18, 20, 22) being separated by at least one other terminal of the connector (10). The apparatus comprises sliding shuttles (66) in which the connectors (10) are intermittently advanced through the stations (18, 20, 22). |
