The invention relates to a solenoid valve especially for flame starting systems on commercial vehicle internal combustion engines, which is inserted in a line which is connected on the one hand to an injection pump of the internal combustion engine and on the other to a nozzle of the flame starting system. A spring-loaded armature carried longitudinally displaceably in the solenoid valve, which armature together with the base of the solenoid valve and an intermediate plate clamped between the base and the housing of the solenoid valve defines an annular chamber, closes the line leading to the nozzle between injections. The line leaving the injection pump opens into the annular chamber in such a way that the fuel impact pressures occurring between the injections are directed against the intermediate plate or transversely relative to the armature, in order to ensure correct and durable sealing of the solenoid valve.
