Process for binding gaseous pollutants, such as sulphur oxides, fluorine compounds and chlorine compounds, contained in flue gases from combustion of fossil, mineral-containing fuels, in particular brown coal and hard coal, the fly ash having minerals, such as for example calcium oxide and/or magnesium oxide, contained therein, after separation in a filter in dry and/or suspended form, possibly with addition of additives, such as for example lime, magnesium oxide, limestone, being added back to the flue gases from the combustion, preferably flue gases of the medium (300 DEG to 500 DEG C) or low (80 DEG C to 300 DEG C) temperature range. <IMAGE>
