A hand firearm is equipped, in the weapon barrel, with a device which reduces the kinetic energy of a projectile and/or prevents the escape of live ammunition from the barrel and which narrows the barrel cross-section. The device has a barrel stop (5) which is arranged in the barrel (1) and extends at least over some of the barrel length and which, as seen in cross-section, has at least approximately a triangular shape. The barrel stop (5) is fastened to the inner wall (2) of the barrel at least at one corner (6, 7, 8) of the triangle. The barrel stop (5) can have a central passage bore (9) extending in the direction of the barrel. <IMAGE>
