To prevent after-dripping after turning off the oil feed pump of the oil burner according to the invention while the pump is draining, a connection is made between each oil duct feeding the burner nozzle and a point at which, due to activity of the pump, a reduced pressure is present and is decreased with the draining of the pump. The said connection is produced by opening a return duct shutoff valve which closes again after the desired quantity of oil has been sucked away, in order to prevent more oil flowing from the oil supply into the burner nozzle, or the nozzle feed duct running empty.
