Process and apparatus for producing seed magma

In a process for producing seed magma, slightly supersaturated intake syrup which is only a fraction of the total batch to be produced is seeded with slurry while being continuously stirred. This magma is then subjected to a first crystallisation by cooling. Further saturated intake syrup is then added in the same volume or a multiple of the starting volume while continuously stirring. This magma is subjected to a second crystallisation by cooling. Said magma is then subjected to a crystallisation by evaporation while continuously stirring, with fresh concentrated syrup being added simultaneously until the desired crystal content of 35 to 45% and final volume have been reached.
