Cardiac output is measured and updated by thermodilution techniques using spaced thermistors (29, 31) whose signals are amplified (39, 41) filtered (43, 45) and alternately sampled and converted into a digital signal (47) where the required output value is calculated by a microprocessor-controlled (49) circuity including a divider giving velocity information, a switch connected to the divider to establish initial velocity, a cardiac output reference calculator (61) for providing a reference signal which when combined with the initial velocity signal in another divider (63) gives an area signal to be combined with the velocity signal in a multiplier (59) to give the updated output.
|
