PURPOSE:To manufacture a sintered alloy of superior compression moldability and wear resistance at a low cost by mixing low alloyed steel powder with Fe- Cr-B alloy powder, graphite powder and Fe-P alloy powder in a specified ratio and by molding and sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:When a wear resistant sintered Fe alloy is manufactured as a valve lifter member for an internal combustion engine, low alloyed steel powder contg. 0.8-3.5% Cr, and 0.5-0.8% Mn is mixed with 5-16wt% Fe-Cr-B alloy powder contg. 10-35% Cr and 1.0-2.5% B, 1.0-3.5wt% graphite powder and Fe-P alloy powder so as to adjust the amount of P to 0.2-1.0% of the total amount of the mixture. The powdered mixture is press-molded and sintered at 1,025-1,140 deg.C which is below the m.p. of the Fe-Cr-B alloy in a nonoxidizing atmosphere.
