A reinforcing element for reinforced concrete, having more than two substantially parallel longitudinal bars (1, 2) and transverse parts bridging the intervening spaces, is of a construction which is economical in terms of manufacture and material expenditure owing to the fact that the transverse parts are formed by an intermediate bar (3) running in a zigzag or serpentine shape. This bar can be included in strength calculations for bending-tensile stress as a further longitudinal bar. Good anchorage of the reinforcement in the concrete and further strength improvements are obtained by a three-dimensionally running intermediate bar (3'). <IMAGE>
