<p>A profiling control apparatus is designed to prevent any biting of a cutter at points at which the shape of a model suddenly changes. A sampling circuit (12) samples a composite displacement signal at predetermined periods, while sampling circuits (12X to 12Z) sample signals indicating displacements in the X- to Z-axial directions, respectively. An arithmetic circuit (17) obtains, from the values sampled by the sampling circuits (12, 12X to 12Z), the angle formed between the displacement vector of a stylus (1) in the present sampling period and the displacement vector of the stylus (1) in the last sampling period. A comparator (18) compares the result of the calculation performed by the arithmetic circuit (17) with a reference level to control the feed rate so that it is reduce or not depending on the comparison result. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent biting of the cutter at points at which the shape of the model suddenly changes. </p> |
