PURPOSE:To rapidly collect all kinds of surfactants, by adding a colloidal clay- org. substance complex in a surfactant-containing aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:Montmorillonite clay such as bentonite and fatty amines such as laurylamine are reacted to prepare a colloidal clay-org. substance complex. On the other hand, a collection aid is added to an aqueous solution containing a surfactant to be collected while the pH and temp. thereof are adjusted to perform the hydrophobicity imparting treatment of the surfactant. The above colloidal clay-org. substance complex is added thus treated aqueous solution or the aqueous solution prior to treatment to collect the surfactant. As the surfactant directly collected by this complex, for example, laurylpyridinium chloride or a nonionic surfactant with HLB of 10 or less are represented.
