The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for stepping the stator rotating field of a synchronous machine onwards as a function of the rotation angle, without having to use an angle detecting device which is installed in or on the machine. A converter which is equipped with semiconductor switches which can be disconnected allows the operation of the synchronous machine in a condition in which there is no significant phase shift between the block-shaped, intermittent current of each winding phase and the e.m.f. induced therein by the rotating rotor. An electronic angle detecting device detects the e.m.f. induced by the rotating rotor, in the current gaps, by means of its zero crossovers and from this, determines the angular position of the rotor, according to an integration method, and the signal (FS) for onward stepping of the stator rotating field. <IMAGE> |
