摘要 The method and the device intended for carrying out the method for determining the absolute course of vehicles by means of a gyro compass with ball float (1), provides for applying to the outer envelope of the ball float (1) at right angles to the equator line (2) in equidistant meridian sequence a bar code (3) for length measurement and above and below the equator line (2) correlated with the bar code (3) an area grey code for longitude and latitude determination. The codes are imaged on a line sensor (14) via imaging optics (10). A further opto-electrical measuring device, which comprises a light source aligned in the vertical axis of the compass carriage (21), second imaging optics (16, 17, 18) and a position-sensitive position sensor (19) which is mounted to be vehicle-fixed, serves for measuring the position of the vehicle (angle measurement). The signals supplied by the line sensor (14) and the position sensor (19) pass to a logical evaluating circuit and can be processed for determining an absolute course value, taking into consideration trip measurement data. <IMAGE>
