In response to an incoming call, depending on the position of a manually operable switch, the identification signal transmitter of the B-subscriber is activated even in his absence, whereupon a reciprocal identification signal exchange begins; the identification signal of the A-subscriber transmitted to the B-subscriber is first stored in an identification signal receiving memory along with call time information supplied by a local timer and, when this memory is subsequently interrogated, the call identification signal and the call time are shown together on the display of the B-subscriber.
