PURPOSE:To produce an Al alloy wire rod having excellent heat resistance and electrical conductivity by processing a continuously cast billet of an Al alloy contg. Zr, Fe and B by hot working and drawing under specific conditions to a wire rod then subjecting the wire rod to alternate bending. CONSTITUTION:0.015-0.04% Zr, 0.04-0.30% Fe and <0.002% B are added and incorporated in Al and the components thereof are so adjusted to attain Fe%/ 10+Zr%<=0.045. The continuously cast billet obtd. by casting continuously the melt of such Al alloy is hot-rolled and a roughly drawn wire is formed. After the roughly drawn wire is annealed at 180-300 deg.C, the wire is drawn to the final size to form an Al alloy wire rod, which is then passed between plural rollers 2 disposed alternately zigzag at the top and bottom or on the right and left to disperse uniformly the stress in the drawn wire 1 and to improve the strength and heat resistance thereof. The Al alloy wire rod having excellent electrical conductivity and heat resistance is thus produced.
