CONSTITUTION:A discharge electrolytic grinding stone A is provided with discharge bands made by burying a conductive material in several slit-like grooves provided on its outer periphery and grinding bands C of the other portions in turn, and a work D is machined by shifting the work D in the arrow direction while this grinding stone A is rotated in the arrow direction. At this time, a moment T0 when a discharge band B starts contacting with the work D is detected by a timing detector H, and the application of the discharge electrolytic voltage is stopped until a time T1 when a duration tau0 set by a variable timer elapses from that time. A switching element G is controlled so that the discharge band B applies the discharge electrolytic voltage only for a duration tau1 from the time T1 to a time T2 when the contact is completed.
