<p>A device is provided for feeding sheets F of wrapping material sequentially from a stack of sheets PF to a packing machine (not shown) which operates in a discontinuous manner at consecutive cycles and in which the feeding of the sheet is automatically inhibited for every cycle in which the object to be wrapped is absent or rejected. The device comprises a take-up mechanism such as a suction sector 85 which takes up sheets one after the other from said stack, a glueing device 69 for receiving said sheets one by one, at least one electric stepping motor 81,94,74 for driving said take-up mechanism and glueing device, and a programmable electronic circuit (not shown) for controlling said stepping motor(s) so that said sheets are fed in synchronism with the cyclic motion of the packing machine, said circuit including means for varying the parameters of drive (e.g. speed, acceleration) of said stepping motor(s) and means for receiving an input signal indicative of an absent or rejected object so as to stop the motor(s).
