PURPOSE:To enable to obtain high reliability at a low cost by providing a plurality of cooling tubes around an alumina ceramic capilary tube serving as a discharge path. CONSTITUTION:A cathode valve 2 and an anode 3 are installed at both ends of the fine tube 1, and further Brewster windows 4 and 5 are provided outside them. In such a structure, when gas discharge is generated in a discharge fine tube 11 by impressing a voltage between the anode 3 and a cathode 6, laser oscillation occurs. A plurality of the cooling tubes 13 to make cooling water flow are provided in the periphery of this fine tube 11. When the cooling water is made to flow through these cooling tubes 13, thus absorbing the heat generated by the discharge, stable operation can be secured. For the material of the fine tube 1, alumina ceramic is used. By this constitution, it is unnecessary to use a material of a high cost and a pollutant such as beryllia ceramic for the material of the fine tube, and then an ion laser tube of high reliability can be obtained at a low cost. |
