PURPOSE:To make it possible to control the supercharging in conformity with the acceleration required by a driver so as to improve the operation performance, by detecting the periodic rate of change in the opening of an accelerator and the increase rate of the rotational frequency of an engine, and controlling the supercharging and the stopping thereof based on these values. CONSTITUTION:A by-pass passage 5' is provided that goes round the compressor of a supercharger provided in a suction passage, and has a control valve 6 that can be controlled by a control circuit. The control circuit is provided with comparators 17, 18 that compare the stepped angle of an accelerator pedal, that is, the periodic rate of change in the opening of the accelerator with reference values V1, V2 respectively, and a comparator 19 that compares the rate of change in the rotational frequency of the engine detected by detecting means 30 with a reference value V3. When the rate of stepping on the accelerator pedal has exceeded the reference value V1, a supercharging signal is issued, while when the releasing rate of the accelerator pedal has exceeded the reference value V2 or the increase rate of the rotatioal frequency of the engine has exceeded the reference value V3, a supercharging stop signal is issued. |
