PURPOSE:To enable to cool with high reliability by watertightly covering the coil inserting slot surface of a laminated core in an electromagnetic agitator for agitating unsolidified part of a cast product with a nonmagnetic material and inhibiting coolant to immerse into the core. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic agitator 1 is formed by disposing an electromagnetic unit having a laminated core 3 formed by laminating silicon steel plates 3a in a cylindrical housing 2, and pressing the end of the axial direction by a retainer 4 and a coil 6 inserted through a watertight insulating layer 5 formed by injecting inorganic material such as alumina powder to the slot 3b of bore side of the core 3. Coolant is supplied from a supply port 2f, exhausted from an outlet 2g through a gap in the slot 3b, thereby solidifying the unsolidified part of a cast product 8 by agintating by the action of a rotary magnetic field while cooling. Accordingly, it can effectively prevent the coolant from entering the core 3 due to the presence of the insulating layer 5, thereby improving the reliability. |
