PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity and a granular characteristic by installing a layer contg. silver halide particles having specific size between the two emulsion layers of a silver halide photosensitive material having the emulsion layers of same color sensitivity and different sensitivities, adjacently to the respective emulsion layers. CONSTITUTION:A layer contg. non-photosensitive silver halide particles of 0.05- 0.6mum average particle size is provided between the two emulsion layers in a silver halide photosensitive material having at least two emulsion layers of same color sensitivity and different sensitivities on a base, adjacently to the respective emulsion layers. If such a layer arrangement is adopted, the sensitivity of the emulsion layer on the side further from the base, of the photosensitive emulsion layers adjacent to the layer contg. the non-photosensitive silver halide photosensitive material is increased and the granular characteristic of the image contributed by the adjacent two photosensitive emulsion layers is improved on the contrary even if the sensitivity increases. The sensitivity and granular characteristic are thus improved by providing the non-photosensitive emulsion layer between the high sensitivity emulsion layer and the low sensitivity emulsion layer.
