IMMOBILISATION OF ENZYMES

Enzymes for example cellulases are immobilised by complexing with polymers derived from quinones which polymers resemble humic polymers. Preferably the quinone is formed in the presence of the enzyme and self-polymerises to incorporate the enzyme. The resulting immobilised enzyme polymer complex can be further stabilised by supports such as activated clays. The resulting immobilised enzyme complex is particularly suitable for incorporation in soil but can be used for other enzymatic processes.
