PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which dries forcibly a steel sheet and prevents effectively the discoloration of the steel after pickling by rpoviding a steel sheet housing space adjacently to the outlet side of a pickling tank, and providing means for sucking hydrochloric acid fume from the top and bottom sides of the steel sheet in the space. CONSTITUTION:A steel sheet 2 emerging from a pickling tank 1 passes between linger rolls 3 and enters a space A for housing a pickled steel sheet. A duct system 6 is provided near the outlet side of the tank 1 to suck the hydrochloric acid fume 8 from a liquid surface 7 through the duct 9 to the outside of the system. The inlet side of the space A is shut off by an air curtain 11, etc. Suction ducts 14, 15 are provided above and below the region provided with the linger rolls 3-5 to suck away the residual dilute hydrochloric acid fume to dry quickly the steel sheet and to suppress the reaction between the fume and the steel sheet as far as possible, thereby preventing the discoloration by pickling. Air is blown from the bottom side of the steel sheet to permit easy suction and removal of the fume.
