Cleaning soiled, non-porous surfaces - by wiping with moistened base substrate contg. diatomaceous earth, with clay and/or dispersing agent

Cleaning a soiled, non-porous surface is effected by wiping it with a moistened cleaner to deposit a thin, opaque film; allowing the film to at least partially dry; then wiping off the film. The cleaner consists of a porous base impregnated with H2O-insol. solid particles comprising siliceous diatomaceous earth (I), together with smectite clay (II) and/or a dispersing agent (III). - Amt. of (I) is 50-80% esp. 65-75% by wt. of total solids. Amt. of (II) is 5-45% esp. 25-35% by wt.of total solids. (I) and opt. (II) and/or (III) are formed into aq. dispersions for coating the base sheets (3-35% pref. 5-25% of at least (I) esp. a mixt. of (I) with (II) and/or (III)).
