PURPOSE:To realize a liquid developer capable of forming an image high in density and quality by dispersing a chlorinated toner composed essentially of a pigment and a copolymer obtained by polymerizing two kinds of monomers each having specified general formula, in a liquid carrier high in insulating property and low in dielectric constant. CONSTITUTION:A toner to be dispersed into a highly insulating liquid carrier low in dielectric constant is composed essentially of a pigment, such as phthalocyanine blue or Bordeaux 10B, and a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer A of formula I with monomer B of formula II in which R is 6- 20C alkyl and Y is Cl or OH. Said copolymer resin is obtained by heat polymerizing the monomers A, B in the presence of a polymn. initiator, such as benzoyl or lauroyl peroxide. The toner contains also a base, such as 2-aminoethanol or systeine. As the liquid carrier, petroleum derived aliphatic hydrocarbons or its halogenated derivs. high in insulating property and low in dielectric constant are used. |
