PURPOSE:To preserve a food for a long period, by using both a carbonic acid gas evolving agent capable of producing a carbonic acid gas in an atmosphere in a package even in low humidity state or in the absence of oxygen and alcohol vapor. CONSTITUTION:A carbonic acid gas adsorption material obtained by adsorbing a carbonic acid gas on synthetic zeolite having <=3Angstrom pore diameter is blended with an ethyl alcohol adsorption material prepared by adsorbing ethyl on silicic anhydride, active carbon, etc., the mixture and a food are packed into a container such as a bottle, can, etc. in such a way that the mixture is not brought into contact with the food, they are isolated from the open air, and the container is hermetically sealed.
