The adhesive may be a rubber/resin mixture or acrylic ester polymer. The compositions may be coated on substrates to form medical plasters and surgical devices. Examples describe compositions of karaya gum with natural rubber/ colophony/hydrocarbon resin and polyisobutylene/butadiene-styrene rubber/colophony /hydrocarbon resin based adhesives, and with adhesives comprising n-butyl acrylate/isooctyl acrylate/glycidyl methacrylate and n-butyl acrylate/isooctyl acrylate/acrylic acid co-polymers.
