PURPOSE:To prevent clogging at the tip of a nozzle and to form a light-gage strip having a smooth surface by providing a heat insulating wall which shields the sapce between an electric furnace for melting a metal and a roll for cooling quickly and solidifying the molten metal ejected from the nozzle and approaching the surface of said wall facing the roll along the circumferential surface of the roll. CONSTITUTION:A device for producing a light-gage metallic strip produces a light-gage metallic strip by ejecting the molten metal in an electric furnace 4 onto the surface of a roll 1 rotating at a high speed from a nozzle 2 by inert gas kept under a high pressure and cooling quickly and solidifying said metal. A heat insulating wall 9 which shields the space between the furnace 4 for melting said metal and the roll 1, and the surface of the wall 9 facing the roll 1 is approached along the circumferential surface of the roll 1. The collision of the gaseous flow generated on the circumferential surface of the roll 1 against the tip of the nozzle 2 is thus prevented by the wall 9 and the intrusion of the gaseous flow to the bottom surface of the light-gage metallic strip wound on the circumferential surface of the roll 1 is obviated, so that the smooth surface is obtd. |
