PURPOSE:To improve transmission efficiency by providing a transparent substrate having end surfaces which are parallel each other and many input waveguides exposed to their end parts from said end surface, arranged in parallel at intervals and extended in a direction intersected with said end surfaces at right angles. CONSTITUTION:The light mixing/branching circuit 10 is constituted by embedding and forming the input/output waveguides 20, taper guides 30 and a mixing area integrally in a flat, parallelepiped-shaped and transparent substrate 1 consisting of glass, adhering substrates 12 to both the opposed sides of the substrate 11 and forming a full reflector 13 so as to be tightly adhered to the end surface 11B of the substrate 11 by vapor deposition or the like of a metallic thin film. The I/O waveguides 20 exposed to their end parts from the I/O end surface 11A of the substrate 11 and extended in the direction intersected with the end surface 11A at right angles. Said constitution makes it possible to improve the transmission efficiency without generating reflection loss. |
