PURPOSE:To obtain an image bearing material superior in adhesion to a substrate and in strength, etc. by forming the insulating layer of said material for holding an electrostatic image or toner image consisting of the upper layer composed essentially of an org. solvent-soluble thermoplastic resin and the lower layer comosed essentially of this resin and a thermosetting type polyester. CONSTITUTION:An insulating layer formed on a photoconductive layer or on a toner image bearing material having no photoconductive layer consists of the upper layer composed essentially of an org. solvent-soluble thermoplastic resin, such as styrene type resin, and the lower layer composed essentially of said resin and a thermosetting polyester resin. The lower layer enhances heat resistance, hardness, mechanical strength, etc., and also raises adhesion to the photoconductive layer or a substrate, and the upper layer enhances electrostatic charge retentivity, cleanability, etc. to enhance durability on the whole. Said polyester preferably has <=5,000mol. wt., <=20 acid value, and <=100 deg.C hardening temp. |
