PURPOSE:To make an encoding processing time constant by constituting three kinds of buffer memories in a document file system so as to constitute each block operated at an independent speed. CONSTITUTION:An input buffer 1 stores a picture data inputted continuously in the unit of lines. Then, a run length detecting section 2 counts the number of run length of each signal of said input picture data, and stores the kind of the signal and the count value to an intermediate buffer memory 3 as a code for converting the code and stores simultaneously a code for converting code corresponding to an EOL signal to the memory 3 with a parallel output. Then, a coding section 4 extracts the code for converting the code in the order of storage, converts it into a code corresponding to the kind of the signal and the run length number and converts it further into a serial code. Further, a buffer memory 6 divides the coded data in the unit of prescribed blocks and stores the result. Since the fluctuation in the processing time and the fluctuation of standby time with an external storage medium are absorbed in this way, the encoding with a constant time is attained. |
