PURPOSE:To improve the resistance to corrosion and pitting without adding any special element such as Nb by adding N into the build-up weld metal of a Cr- Ni austenitic stainless steel and incorporating an adequate amt. of delta ferrite therein. CONSTITUTION:The components in the build-up deposited metal of a Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel are regulated to <0.06% C, <1.0% Si, <2.0% Mn, 16- 25% Cr, and 6-20% Ni and are incorporated therein with 0.08-0.15% N and the void percentage of delta ferrite measured with a ferrite scope is made >=4% according to the yield of the build-up deposited metal determined by welding conditions in the stage of submerged arc welding or electroslag welding using a belt-like electrode. The resistance to corrosion and pitting after stress relief annealing after the build-up welding is improved without adding the costly element such as Nb, etc. |
