PURPOSE:To facilitate adjustment of the position of a stopper and elimination of paper jam and to ensure sound-isolating function, by a method wherein a gap through which a paper can pass in a closed condition is provided, a stopper segment is movably attached, and a sound-isolating material is placed so that it is openable integrally with a blade part. CONSTITUTION:When paper folding takes place, a blade part 2 is closed with respect to a blade part 1, and a case 8 and a sound-absorbing material 9 are also closed integrally therewith. A paper sheet is fed in a gap 3 and a given paper folding motion is carried out. In this case, sound, produced when the forward end of the paper collides with a stopper segment 10A, is absorbed by sound-absorbing materials 7 and 9 placed on the backs of the blade parts 1 and 2, respectively. The position of a stopper 10 is adjusted such that a knob 14A may be vertically moved after it is unfastened. Furthermore, in case a paper jam takes place in the gap 3 during paper-folding operation, the gap 3 is widened with the blade part 2 opened, thereby paper-jam being simply eliminated. Thus, such trouble can be disposed by a simple work, and a sound-isolating effect can also be reliably exhibited.
