A ferrite ring core (1) has one winding contained on a segment of some 320 degrees with a separating insulator cap (3). A second winding (4) is wound onto this insulator and this spans 200 degrees and is symmetrically located in relation to the first winding and has a smaller diameter wire. The smaller wire is necessary to provide current compensation. The second winding is able to dissipate beat generated freely to atmosphere over all of its surface. The wound suppressor choke is mounted or embedded in a housing with a front opening that permits the resulting stray magnetic field to be directed in a specific direction.
