The invention relates to an apparatus for selecting information with the aid of a digital signal. According to the invention, an electronic microprocessor circuit successively turns on each group indicator 16. When the user who has a control device 34 sees that the indicator 16 corresponding to a group 24 of information articles, in which is included the article which he wishes to choose, is turned on, he sends a signal with the aid of the control device 34. The electronic circuit then begins successively turning on all the article indicators of a selected group 24, and, when the indicator 20 of the wanted item of information is turned on, the user again transmits a signal via the control device 34 so that the corresponding indicator remains lit and indicates that the corresponding symbol has been chosen. The apparatus operates cyclically and allows several symbols to be selected up to the end of a message and transmission of a call signal.
