PURPOSE:To facilitate the installation of an emission tube into an outer tube bulb by using a shape-memorizing alloy to make a part of the mount members of the emission tube, and placing the emission tube in a given position by heating after the emission tube is installed in the bulb in a slant position. CONSTITUTION:An emission tube 4 is installed in the outer tube bulb 1 of a high pressure metallic vapor electric-discharge lamp. Its one end is pivotably connected to a conductive support 8a by means of a pivotable supporter 13a while the other end is freely rotatably connected to a conductive sliding member 14, attached to a support 8b, by means of a pivotable supporter 13b. In addition, a shape-memorizing alloy 15 which is in coil-like form in an atmosphere of high temperature and in stretched form at ordinary temperature is attached across the end of the support 8b and the holder of the emission tube 4. Therefore, even when the tube length of the emission tube 4 is larger than the neck 2 of the bulb 1, the emission tube 4 can be inserted in a slant position before its position is made vertical to the tube axis by increasing the temperature. As a result the installation of the emission tube 4 can be quite easily carried out. |
