PURPOSE:To perform secure focus control with small electric power by detecting the quantity of reflected light from an object, and turning on an infrared light emitting element, varying the quantity or light emission time of auxiliary light, and limiting a photometric time only when the detected quantity is smaller than a specific value. CONSTITUTION:Infrared light or light with wavelength close to infrared wavelength after being reflected spectrally by a reflecting surface 21 formed near the center of the lens 20 of a photographic lens 10 is image-formed by a lens 40 on a photoelectric element group 50 which is arranged plural CCDs and outputs two kinds of data which are out of phase with each other accordong to the extent of defocusing as a signal (a). A light emitting element 60 emits light with intensity corresponding to the quantity of light detected by a detecting means 101 with the detection signal (a) so that the quantity of light is constant when stray light alpha decreases in quantity and the quantity of reflected light gamma is smaller than a specific value. A focus detecting means 102 reads the data and the detecting means 101 sets the next photometric time on the basis of photometric data. |
