PURPOSE:To avoid processed data from being wasted by reproting ''not ready'' so long as an error is not eliminated even a specified time is elapsed when an error of failure of processing start condition is detected. CONSTITUTION:It is supposed that an error such as shortage paper or shortage of toner is not released within a specified time, that is, an error is generated immediately before the start of print of the 2nd page. When a poll command is transmitted from a Japanese word multiplex controller NMC while a 3min timer is started and timeout occurs, an office printer returns the response of ready/ busy to the command. If the error is not restored even if the timeout of the timer occurs, the printer becomes in the ''not ready'' state and the ''not ready'' is responded to the NMC. The NMC informs ''device end'' and ''unit check'' to a host computer. The host computer transmits data of A, A', A'' after awaiting the printer becoming the ready state.
