PURPOSE:To achieve a halftone recording by lowering the melting point of a binder for an immediate medium below the temperature of starting the color formation of particles so as to form color at the density corresponding to heat supplied after a transfer in a thermal recording adapted to transfer the intermediate medium onto a recording medium by heating. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate medium 25 contacting a recording medium 31 has a binder 30 attached to a support 26 as containing an electron donor particle 28 and an electron acceptor particle 29. The melting point of the binder 30 is about 68 deg.C while about 90 deg.C in the temperature of starting the color formation between the electron donor particle 28 and the electron acceptor particle 29. First, the binder 30 softens and attaches to the recording medium 31 by a heat energy from a thermal head 32. Then, the particles 28 and 29 starts a color formating reaction in proportion to an excess heat energy. Therefore, the color formation density is adjusted according to heat supplied to effect a halftone expression thereby facilitating multicolor printing. |
