The connecting device has a housing which is open on at least one end and generally also on the one plane surface. Arranged in the housing is a double spring clip, whose spring limbs project by a certain amount out of the open end of the housing. Their limb ends are bent away at least at right angles with respect to the common plane. The spring limbs are spread apart from one another in the unstressed state. In the stressed initial position, with an approximately parallel alignment, the spring limbs are held firmly by a catch device. The connecting device is mounted on one of two components which are to be connected to one another such that its spring limb ends engage behind the second component. After releasing the spring limbs, the latter spread apart from one another, the distance of the spring limb ends from the attachment point of the spring clip to the housing being shortened. In consequence, the two components are drawn together and are permanently connected to one another.
