The carrier 40 of a welding head 25 for the internal lining of circular cylindrical cavities is rotated during welding. For cooling, it has an outer coaxial annular cooling channel 120, covered by a sealing ring 121 which is slidingly set on it and does not revolve with it. The connections of external cooling water feed and drain ducts 132, 134 open into the cooling channel 120 at the sealing ring 121. <IMAGE>
