In powered support assemblies in pneumatic or hydraulic packing operations there is the difficulty of, on the one hand, satisfactorily partitioning the longwall space from the goaf space and, on the other hand, of nonetheless providing openings in the partitions for transport and inspection tasks. The difficulties are increased when the longwall faces are comparatively low. In order to provide suitable transport and inspection cross-sections even in these cases, the invention provides for narrow articulated struts 5 to be provided as an integral part of the four-bar mechanism 4, 5, 9 incorporated between the roof cap 12 and the floor skid 2. There is then a sufficiently large cross-section 18 between the articulated struts 5 and the roof cap 2 or a one-piece link 4 on the goaf side, which cross-section 18 can be utilised as a transport and inspection cross-section. This cross-section 18 can be closed by a transport and inspection frame 19 which if need be is also provided with hinged doors. <IMAGE>
