A tapping device (19) is described for melting and/or holding furnaces (11) for nonferrous metals or nonferrous metal melts (20), with a movable closure element (52) which can close the outlet opening (49) of the tapping chamber (24). So that such a tapping device (19) is simpler and more reliable in operation and moreover has a long life, a shaped piece (53) of resistant ceramic material is inserted in a fixed manner in the floor region (51) of the tapping chamber (24) and is provided with the outlet opening (49), and a pipe part (52) of resistant ceramic material is provided in the form of a plug, and can be inserted into the fixed shaped piece (53) and rotatably held in it. <IMAGE>
