In the case of a device for inserting and ejecting a magnetic-tape cassette (10) in a magnetic-tape cassette apparatus, there is a cassette lift (7) as well as a cassette driver (9), guided displaceably in the said lift. The cassette driver (9) is coupled to a lever (11), which can swivel about a swivel axis (12) and is coupled to a displaceable actuating rod (14) which bears a pin (21) which, upon insertion of the cassette, moves in relation to a control edge (20) on the lever. Fastened between the actuating rod (14) and the lever (11) is a compression spring (23) which, after movement of the pin in relation to a part (20a) of the control edge, swivels the lever further and drives the cassette along in the lift (7). Upon ejection of the cassette, the fastening point (23a) of the spring (23) on the lever (11) moves through a plane (32) through the swivel axis (12) and the fastening point (24) on the actuating rod (14), after which the spring (23) swivels the lever (11) further and ejects the cassette (10). <IMAGE>
