Chloroacetanilide derivatives, a process for their preparation, and herbicidal agents containing them

N-Methylchloroacetanilide derivatives of the formula <IMAGE> are described, where R represents an alkyl group, an allyl group, a propargyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, a tetrahydrofurylmethyl group, an alkyl group which is substituted by a halogen atom, or a cycloalkyl group which can be substituted by an alkyl group. A process for the preparation of the compounds and herbicidal agents which contain the compounds as active ingredient are furthermore described.
