In a wire comb deformation device for producing wire comb connections for paper and printed products, separate drive means are assigned to the holding-down device 2 and the bending tool 4. The said drive means consist of a coupled gear 10; 11; 12; 13; 14; 17 for the holding-down device 2 and a rocker arm 18; 19; 20; 21 for the bending tool 4. The lever 13 of the coupled gear consists of two parts 13'; 13" lying one above the other, between which a compression spring is arranged. The drives for the holding-down device 2 and for the bending tool 4 are driven by a common main drive, in each case via a driving disc 7 and 8 respectively, which driving discs 7 and 8 are connected to one another in driving terms. The holding-down device 2 is put down gently and a defined pressing force is achieved, which ensures that the wire comb deformation device generates little noise and protects the wire. <IMAGE>
