The wheelchair is intended for use in living areas and is connected to a removable drive unit, on which gear motors for driving the large main wheels are pivotably mounted and which supports the batteries for powering the motors. Arranged on the output shafts of the gear motors are belt pulleys which are connected by belts to belt pulleys secured on the main wheels, so that, by means of the pivoting of the drive motors, the belt pulleys can be coupled to the belt pulleys of the main wheels and uncoupled from these. In the plan view, the main wheels and support wheels are arranged under the carriage in such a way that the axis of the main wheels is situated approximately in the centre, so that the manoeuvrability of the wheelchair is not impeded by the wheels. |
