PURPOSE:To provide the titled additive composed of an addition product of a specific ethylene-vinyl carboxylate copolymer and an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester, having excellent capability to lower the pour point, effective to reduce the viscosity at a low temperature, and having high solubility. CONSTITUTION:The objective additive for improving the fluidity of a heavy fuel oil is composed of an addition product of an ethylene-vinyl carboxylate copolymer (having a number-average molecular weight of 12,000-70,000 and a vinyl carboxylate content in the copolymer of 5-26mol%) and an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester. The amount of the unsaturated dicarboxylic acid ester added to the copolymer is preferably 20-200pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the ethylene-vinyl carboxylate copolymer.
