PURPOSE:To make possible forming of carrier tape by a method wherein from the start of film forming until its extraction from a female die, the film is retained by a male die and a press member that pinches and retains the film interlocking with the male die in a forming cavity. CONSTITUTION:With the fall of a slide block 13, a male die 14 and a punch 15 also fall, their tips enter a forming cavity 17 and a punch hole 18 respectively to provide a housing cavity (r) and a hole (p) for a pinch feed roller. In the forming process of this housing cavity (r) the lower surface of the film is pushed by a press member 19 against the lower surface of the male die 14 and formed as the male die falls. Thus, the bottom of the housing cavity is kept plane. When forming has been completed, first a slide block 12 begins to rise and when it takes the highest position, the housing cavity (r) in the film (f) goes perfectly out of the forming cavity of the female die 11. Since the rise of the film (f) is restricted by a film holder 16, the male die 14 and the punch are extracted smoothly from the film. In this manner housing cavities and holes for pitch feed rollers are formed sequentially.
